BUILT-INS FOR PETS

Sometimes when I'm doing research for the site, I get a bit self conscious.  What would those of yesteryear think of an entire room dedicated to dog grooming, or an entire loft built around the owner's cats?  I'm reminded of how when my mom was a child her family had beagles, hunting dogs, and they lived outside, even through winter.  This was Wisconsin in the 1950s.  Nowadays that's more than enough grounds to have your dog taken from you, but back then it was considered normal.  For many people, pets weren't seen as family.  But as couples are having less and less children, pets are moving in, quite literally.  And just as we design homes with our own sleeping, eating and bathing habits in mind, we're starting to include those of our pets, too.  The rise of "barkitecture" is very real, and you know we salute it wholeheartedly!  Here's a little inspiration from those blazing the trails:
